Royal Canin Kitten 36 food is for second stage kittens during muscle and bone development (4-12 months). A kitten's growth can be segmented into two distinct stages, with very different nutritional requirements. From 4 months until maturity, a kitten's growth rate actually slows and energy requirements are different. At the same time, it is increasingly important to provide the right nutrient balance for optimal development. DHA, coming from fish oils, plays a major role in embryonic and fetal development and growth of the central nervous and visual systems. Early dietary supplementation is necessary to achieve a positive effect on cerebral development. Carefully selected ingredients, like rice, are easy to digest for young kittens. Good digestion is important for optimal nutrient absorption, during this second stage of growth. A kittens milk teeth will begin to appear between 3 and 4 weeks of age, but permanent teeth do not emerge until after 4 months of age. A tiny kibble is easier to eat and can be rehydrated during weaning. Accumulation of plaque and tartar is a risk even at this early stage of life. Kitten 36 contains nutrients that help to bind and safely remove the calcium that could build-up on teeth, while still providing the necessary calcium levels for optimal skeletal growth.

    Kittens seem to like it.

The last 3 kittens we’ve adopted (spaced a year or more apart) have taken to this food well and flourished. If there’s anything to ‘complain’ about, it would be that they have liked it so much they were reluctant to change to ‘adult’ food when the time came. *grin*

    Wonderful kitten food!

I recently switched to this kitten food for my 7 month old Maine Coon kitten. She had been eating Eukanuba kitten food since I brought her home from the breeder. That was what the breeder had recommended and I do think it is a good food; however, Clair started having soft poops that were very very stinky at about 5 1/2 months old. She was growing still and seemed fine otherwise so I didn’t think too much of it but after a month, I e-mailed her breeder who suggested I try the chicken and rice based Royal Canin kitten food instead of the Eukanuba food. All I can say is WOW!! I tried doing a slow transition so as not to upset her stomach even more, but my kitten literally ate all the RC kibble and left the Eukanuba in the bowl! She loves it so much, and within 2 days of the switch, her poops were back to normal and NOT smelly at all. I am a believer. My 12 year old Maine Coon loves this food, too! Clair has been eating this food for over a month now, and she has put on 2 lbs of lean muscle and bone mass. She’s beautiful! Both cats have beautiful, glossy coats and tons of energy, too!

    Love it!

Our two “kitty boys” are litter mates and are 4 months old now. We got them at about 2 months of age. They love their Royal Canin Kitten 36 Formula. They come running when it is feeding time! They are very healthy, full of energy and their coats are very shiny. Couldn’t be more pleased.

great as treats too for my raw fed kitty

The cattery I got my Savannah cat from had been using and recommended Royal Canin Kitten 36; I transitioned my little guy to a raw diet fairly early at 13 weeks but I continue to use this food occasionally as a treat for him.

He always comes running when he hears the storage container open. I feed him just a scant couple of tablespoons in any given day, and always separate from his other food. Even though he is raw fed, this does not cause any negative digestive issues for him.

He can be somewhat picky at times so I am impressed that he enjoys this food so much.

I have two 6 mo kittens and my son’s 4 yr old tux cat lives with us six mo of each yr.I had samples of three other foods when I adopted these kitties and this food was prefered paws down by both babies and the tux cat likes it as well. When I took them to their Vet check I was told this food was highly recommended. I have been given other samples since and the kitties will actually hold out for the tiny morsels of Royal Canin.Too bad it is so pricey but who could say no to those two cute faces I even changed my 12 yr Jack Russel to the dog formula she is spoilled also.
