How do I get my kitten to stop licking me?
Wednesday, April 28th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
He’s really sweet and likes to lay on my pillow and partially my head when I’m sleeping, but before he falls asleep he has this weird obsession with licking my hair and ears. He licks a lot too when I pet him. I know some people don’t care, but I don’t really care for it. I want to stop his habbit early on before he gets older.

My cat is a licker too. Same as you I don’t like it. Will never get him to stop cause it’s just in his personality. So when he starts I just move my arm, foot or whatever away. I’ve had other cat’s but he is my first licker. A friend called one night and asked what I was doing. I told her I was getting a facial from my cat. LOL. You’ll just have to deal. Good Luck.
Take a bath in Tabasco or get a new cat
Lick it back.
But seriously now, do you know that one third of Americans have parasites, and most of that is from pets?
Best to severely limit physical contact with pets especially body fluids. And wash yourself after contact.
Perhaps you can increase your dietary intake of garlic and/or onions and see what happens. (Even if that does not turn off your kitten, it’ll help combat parasites.)
Well, try and put him in his own bed. If that doesnt work then put him at the bottom of your bed or somewhere safe give him his own pillow and a doll with hair that he can lick!
When he licks your face hes only showing that he loves you!
Geez.
You want him to stop?
I think that’s the cutest thing in the world!
God I wish my cats did that when they were little. -_-
Either way.
I’m sure he’ll grow out of it.
And the other suggestions are good, too. ^^
Though everytime he starts, you could just hiss at him and bop his nose.
Wonderful, but he may not like you so much. >_>;;
Does this happen usually within either minutes or maybe an hour after showering when you’re in bed?
My cat does that also BUT ONLY after I’ve taken a shower … it happens when my hair is mostly dry but still somewhat damp.
I can only guess since alot of Shampoos are made from plant extracts these days, maybe cats enjoy the smell and taste of it.
cats nature is to lick his master so i think you can’t stop him from licking you. if you really don’t want to be licked, don’t let him go inside your room. good luck!!
You could try changing your shampoo, hair gel, skin cream or anything scented that you may wear to bed, but it would probably be best to start having him sleep in another room at night. There is no guarantee that doing anything will make him stop, and the more he sleeps with you, the more he will resist moving. You can bring him in your room anytime before bedtime, and cuddle him, as it’s obvious that you love him, but cats are really hard to train-and, you’ll never get a good night’s sleep. The sooner that he learns where to sleep, the better.
gas works well ,cats don’t like high octane ….the licking will stop!, I just know it
