Why is my cat licking everything all of a sudden?
Thursday, April 1st, 2010 at 2:34 am
My cat is 8 years old and just a few weeks ago she started licking everything. My son’s toys, the remote controls, clothing, skin, etc. Anything she can. Is this some sort of vitamin deficiency or something?

Generally, this is a sign of a vitamin deficiency. Get some kitty vitamins and see if that helps. You might want to consider changing foods, and if you are giving her a dry diet, switch to wet food. Dry food isn’t good for kitties (not natural, not good for health), and frequently the kitty doesn’t absorb enough nutrients
Has your cat had any kind of injury lately? OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) is seen in animals, and sometimes develop it after an injury. Psychological disorders in animals isn’t something that is readily taught in vet school, but frequently a pet can be snapped out of it with play time; lots of activity.
She’s HUNGRY FOR MEAT.
any sudden changes in behavior should be seen by a vet. 8 years of age is "middle age" and always a good idea to get a good health exam at that point.
if she’s chewing these items along with licking, she could have PICA which is the need to eat non food items, and can be a sign of a health issue. Some cats are born with PICA..
no she just wants everything to be hers haha so she’s licking them so you wont touch them. i dono, cats can be selfish.
